$1,000 donated following ribbon fundraiser

In the wake of the Buffalo tragedy, Grand Island Student Council made and sold ribbons to help show support for the community and the victims that have lost their lives.

With a $5 donation, supporters of FeedMore WNY received a red, white, and black striped ribbon: red and white for Tops Markets, and black for BRAVE (Black Ribbon Against Violence). Together they symbolized the memory of all victims lost.

Club advisor Melissa Kosmoski reported June 10 that $500 was raised and matched by Student Council.

"A check for $1,000 will be sent to FeedMore WNY to their Emergency Fund to help the families and the rest of the Buffalo community that were affected by the tragedy," Kosmoski said.
