GIHS DECA Shines Virtually
The Grand Island High School DECA Club competed in their first ever virtual regional competition this school year. Over 45 students took an online test in business finance, marketing, hospitality, management or entrepreneurship. The following week, they had a timed scenario to complete in their competitive event area. Single participants or teams of two generated and uploaded a video in sports management, business finance, automotive marketing, and many other event areas to a virtual judge. The competition was made up of 15 schools and 25 Grand Island students placed in the top four of their event.
A huge thank you goes out to former students Yusuf Mojawalla and Yaling Chen for judging, along with Grand Island School and Business Alliance (GISBA) member Mary Cooke. The GIHS DECA Club looks forward to competing online in a virtual state competition in February.
