51 Quality for State DECA in March

Will Atkinson walks off stage Fifty-one GIHS students who competed at the DECA regional competition at Lockport High School qualified for the state competition in March. Highlights of the day included first place wins by Brooke Bartolotta, Christian Whetham, Will Atkinson, Emma Sullivan and Miranda Proctor. Breakout first place winners this year were Evan Walowitz and Justin Horvath. Headed to state competition with business plans are 28 students and 23 more qualified for states. GI DECA coordinated two entrepreneurship contests at regionals with local judges Ryan McCarthy, CJ Girard, Dr. Kevin Augustine and Bill Gworek. They were quite impressed by the level of professionalism exhibited by all students in DECA. Over 500 students attended this event from 15 WNY schools.
