Island art students honored

Two Grand Island High School students have been chosen to receive the Police Athletic League Award for Top Senior Visual Artist at GIHS.

PAL hosts a special ceremony to honor one student from each area of the arts, from Niagara County school districts, Kenmore-Town of Tonawanda Union Free School District, Grand Island Central School District, and BOCES. Those students will be put in the running for a PAL scholarship in each category. Representing GIHS with his paintings is Erick Wittmann in the 2D category, while classmate Salem Al Hajjaji’s pottery and sculpture are entered in the 3D category.

The PAL Fine Arts Awards ceremony was held on May 23 at Lewiston-Porter High School.
