Faculty and staff of Sidway Elementary School celebrated the official opening of the new Sidway Playground recently. After three and a half years of fundraising and waiting to build due to COVID-19, children are finally playing and having fun!
The faculty and staff would like to thank the community for all the support shown throughout the past several years, as well as U.S. Congressman Chris Jacobs for providing a generous grant.
As part of the finishing touches on the playground, staff volunteers laid 260 bricks along the sidewalk. Engraved brick pavers were sold to help raise money for the playground. Simone Landscaping headed up the installation.
High School students under the direction of teacher Shawn Sweet made the sign, and many members of the buildings and grounds department helped by setting benches, planting a tree and helping to move the mountains of mulch.
