Most of us have heard the saying, “Don’t judge a book by its cover.” At Huth Road School, officials want the students to be drawn to a book by its cover, but often the books are shelved where you can only see the spine. So, what if you could see the books’ covers?
Through a teacher mini grant from the Huth Road PTA, the library was able to purchase new Browser Bin Book Boxes where the books lay flat and their covers are easy to see.
“We believe that when students see the illustrations and the art on the cover of a book, they will be more likely to pick up the book to look inside,” Huth Road Librarian Freda Orosz said. “Then we know what happens – if you pick up a book and look inside, you might be more likely to want to read the book.”
Orosz thanked the Huth Road PTA for partnering with the library to get children excited about reading.
