Buffalo Bandits’ Zack Belter Inspires Sidway Students with Lacrosse Visit

Sidway Elementary was filled with energy and excitement as Zack Belter of the Buffalo Bandits visited first grade students as part of the team’s school outreach efforts—marking the Bandits’ fourth visit to Sidway.

Belter, a defenseman in his third year with the Bandits, spent time introducing students to the game of lacrosse, giving them a chance to learn basic skills and, for many, pick up a lacrosse stick for the very first time. Laughter and smiles filled the room as students practiced cradling, shooting at the goal, and getting a feel for the sport alongside a professional athlete.

The visit was about more than learning a new game—it was about building confidence, encouraging teamwork, and creating lasting memories for Sidway’s youngest learners.

“It’s fun to give kids an opportunity to get a stick in their hands. The game has given me so much and I hope it inspires them,” said Belter.

Through visits like this, the Buffalo Bandits continue to make a meaningful impact beyond the field, helping to grow the game of lacrosse while fostering connections with students throughout the community. For Sidway’s first graders, it was a day they won’t soon forget—and perhaps the start of a lifelong love for the sport.
