Eighth Graders Explore Future Careers at 5th Annual Emerging Leaders Conference

Grand Island eighth grade students recently participated in the Fifth Annual Emerging Leaders Conference, an event designed to inspire students to explore future career pathways, leadership opportunities, and personal growth.

Throughout the morning, students rotated through a variety of “career clusters,” including construction, education, and health care, where they heard directly from industry professionals about their career journeys, daily responsibilities, and the skills needed to succeed in their fields. The interactive sessions gave students the opportunity to ask questions, engage in discussions, and gain valuable insight into potential future careers.

The conference also featured keynote speaker Ryan Tang Dan, Robotics Specialist Manager at the New York Power Authority, who spoke to students about innovation, technology, and the importance of leadership in today’s evolving workforce. His message encouraged students to remain curious, work hard, and embrace opportunities that challenge them to grow.

The Emerging Leaders Conference continues to provide meaningful experiences that help students connect classroom learning to real-world careers while building confidence in their future goals.
