Third Annual VIP Food Drive Brings Community Together to Support Grand Island Families

The spirit of giving was on full display on Grand Island during the third annual VIP Food Drive, an event that continues to grow as it brings students, local businesses, and community sponsors together in support of the Neighbors Foundation, which provides assistance to families right here on the Island.

Once again, students from VCMS and Sidway Elementary were given a special opportunity: a VIP shopping trip to Tops on Grand Island, where they selected food items that directly benefited local families in need. Thanks to generous businesses, sponsors, and community members, each participating student received $100 to shop with—funds used entirely for food donations.

This year, the community rallied in extraordinary fashion. Through business contributions and student sponsorships, the initiative raised an impressive $9,200, allowing 92 students to take part in this meaningful experience.

The 2025 VIP shopping event took place Tuesday, November 25th at Tops on Grand Island, where students filled carts with essential items that helped brighten the holiday season for neighbors in need.

What began as a small act of service has grown into a powerful annual tradition—one that not only supports local families but also teaches students firsthand about compassion, generosity, and the impact of community.

Grand Island once again proved that when everyone comes together, the result is something truly remarkable.
