Grand Island Students Enjoy Summer Learning Adventure at Beaver Island State Park

Students in our "English as a New Language" (ENL) and "Extended School Year" (ESY) summer programs recently traded the classroom for the outdoors during a field trip to Beaver Island State Park.

 Students spent the day exploring the park while enjoying time at the playground, relaxing on the beach, and taking part in a variety of outdoor activities. The trip provided students with an opportunity to build friendships, practice social skills, and experience hands-on learning in a new environment.

The field trip is just one example of how Grand Island's summer programs keep students engaged while reinforcing important academic and social-emotional skills throughout the summer months.

The district's summer school program is designed to help students maintain and strengthen the progress they made during the school year. Students participate in math, reading, writing, and science activities that are woven into hands-on projects, games, stories, crafts, and collaborative experiences. The program also places a strong emphasis on developing social skills while creating a positive, supportive, and safe learning environment where every student feels successful and excited to come to school each day.

The visit to Beaver Island State Park gave students the chance to learn beyond the classroom, stay active, and create lasting summer memories with classmates and staff. From exploring nature to enjoying the playground and beach, the day highlighted the importance of combining education with meaningful experiences that inspire curiosity, confidence, and connection.
