A Message From Our Principal

  • Welcome to our school!

Kaegebein Elementary School has been providing an outstanding education to the children of Grand Island for over 50 years.

We are currently ranked 50th of 287 elementary schools in the Business First school rankings. We could not have accomplished this without the efforts of our remarkable staff. The teachers, support related staff, and secretaries all are focused on making the students at Kaegebein successful. We have also benefitted from the support of our Parent/Teacher Association. Their efforts make Kaegebein a place where families are welcome to participate in their children’s school.

Kaegebein Elementary has a strong academic program that focuses on literacy development using the guided reading model of Fountas and Pinnell. We also use a hands-on science curriculum. Additionally, the school provides twice weekly physical education, once weekly art and music classes, instrumental lessons (beginning in grade four) and an open library.

We have adopted the Viking Values: Be Respectful, Be Responsible and Be Safe. You will find these values infused in our conversations and teachable moments with the children. These values underlay our commitment to our mission of fostering academic excellence, personal growth and social responsibility.
