PARENT PORTAL - PLEASE JOIN! THIS IS THE BEST WAY TO KEEP INFORMED OF YOUR CHILD'S GRADES IN EACH OF THEIR CLASSROOM AND TO KNOW WHEN THEY ARE FALLING BEHIND!!!
This year I will be trying a new website called Edmodo. I encourage your children to join as a way to communicate with each other about their social studies class and to keep aware of what is going on in their social studies classroom. I may be later adding parents as way for you to communicate with each other as well.
The school year has been coming along nicely. We are in the middle of our Geography Unit. Students are learning about the United States and it's surrounding areas. Later in the week students will be given a Map Study of the United States in which they have to color and label different areas.
This year I will be trying a new homework system out. Students will be given 3 homework assignments a week (1 required assignment, 1 online assignment, and 1 assignment of their choice each week) which will be listed view a Menu Board. The Menu Board will list the required homework for the entire unit.
ELA - This week in ELA we are learning about laws and why they are important. We are focusing on the very important skill of following along in a group and using skimming as a method to find an answer.
Math - This week in math we will are working on Words Problems. Students are learning to focus on the question to find the answer and to determine if addition, subtraction, multiplication or division is needed.
Science/Social - We finished our Magnet Unit and have begun a unit on Our Country and Government. Students will be creating a My Country Liberty Bell packet which is filled with information about US History.
Other News - I am so excited to be back into the life skills classroom. I can't wait to get to know your child better. The first few weeks of school will entail a lot of getting to know you for all of us. Please feel free to contact me whenever you have a question or concern. I check my email daily and will probably be able to respond the quickest via email.
Click on the appropriate link on the left hand side to find out more information about each class.
All students are required to record their school assignments daily in their Agenda. Please ask your child to show you their agenda for daily assignments.
I may add homework assignments to the homework tab from time to time; however, the most up to date and accuate information should be obtained from your child's Agenda.
I am available for extra help anytime by appointment. Please encourage your child to see me after class to set up a time. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org
