Henry VIIIHenry VIII was an absolute monarch from England who is known for killing his wives, and breaking away from the Catholic Church. When he got married the first time, all he wanted from his wife was a son. He was disappointed when she gave birth to a girl - and he blamed his wife for the mistake. Eventually, he tried to divorce her so he could marry his girlfriend, but the Pope said "No!" Henry the VIII split from the Catholic church, named himself the head of the Church of England, killed his wife, married his girlfriend, then killed her when she only gave birth to girls, married a few more women, and killed them too. He had the power to do all of this because he was an absolute monarch - he was in charge of every aspect of life in England.
