Course Description from GIHS Course Catalogue

6530 CONCERT CHOIR Grades 9-12  

1.0 Credit 40 Weeks

Prerequisite: Selection by audition. Students must demonstrate proficiency in vocal production, part independence and sight-reading.

The Concert Choir is a select performing ensemble. Like the Choir, it performs Music Literature from many stylistic periods from the Renaissance to present day. The music for this ensemble is of an advanced level of difficulty and includes study of both sacred and secular major musical works. Weekly Voice Labs are an integral part of the Vocal Music curriculum and are mandatory and graded.  Participation in all choral concerts is required.

CHORAL EVENT SCHEDULE 

For the 2024-2025 School Year

Being a member of the Grand Island High School choral department is an honor and a privilege.  It is my honor and privilege to be the director!  Due to the uncertainty and ever changing healthy & safety mandates of the 2024-25 school year, all concerts/events are subject to change and/or revision.  If in-person concerts are permitted, attendance at the events on the dates listed below (table) should be regarded as mandatory, graded and non-negotiable.  If a student is absent from an event, (other than family emergency or natural disaster) the student may receive a significantly lowered grade for the marking period.  Please make note of the dates on your home calendars, and notify me of any concert conflicts in writing as soon as possible.
