    New York State Education Department FOIL Requests

    New York State’s Freedom of Information Law (Public Officers Law §87 et. seq.) allows members of the public to access records of governmental agencies. FOIL provides a process for the review and copying of an agency’s records. 

    Fee for Duplication of Records, GICSD along with SED charges the statutorily permitted fee of $.25 per page for photocopies of records requested under FOIL (Public Officers Law §87[1][b][iii]). Additional copy preparation fees may apply as permitted by law. There is no provision in law or regulation requiring a waiver of this fee. Payment must be made to the Grand Island Central School District check or money order. Payment should not be submitted until you are notified that your request is granted and informed of the charge for your request.


    How to file a FOIL request

    Send a detailed, written request to our Records Access Officer. Please include a regular mailing address and telephone number in your request, even where the request is made electronically or by facsimile transmission.
