Antonia is a thoughtful young lady who always thinks of others before herself. She has an outstanding ability to see the good in others. Antonia is extremely helpful to her teachers and peers. She always puts forth her best effort and does a great job utilizing the strategies she has been taught. 

Lorelei has demonstrated the Viking Values on a consistent basis. She is determined, helpful, and kind. She is extremely organized, and has put forth excellent effort on all of her assignments. Lorelei is also active in Band and Student Council.

Team C is proud to recognized Grace Carpenter as September's Viking Pride recipient. Grace is punctual, prepared, and participates in class discussions. She is creative, kind, and caring. Grace is always smiling and has a positive attitude. She is a wonderful role model for all the kids on Team C.

Team D would like to nominate Gracie Jones for the September recipient for the Viking Pride award. Gracie exhibits all of the qualities that the Viking pride award entails. She is respectful and responsible. She comes to class prepared, is polite to her teachers and kind to her classmates. Following the Viking Values with such a positive demeanor is one of Gracie’s greatest qualities. Gracie is honest and her teachers hold Gracie with the highest admiration in terms of being open-minded and impartial. Because of her commitment to success and sincerity of her ways, we would like to honor Gracie with this award.

Alexandria has an excellent work ethic which sets a fine example for her classmates. Homework is done on time and well, and her smile lights up a classroom. I have been particularly impressed with her desire to help her younger sister fund-raise door to door for her alma mater, Huth Road School. Many kids this age prefer to spend time with friends, but it is obvious that family remains Alexandria's priority. Thus, she is an excellent citizen, not only of my class, but of Grand Island as a community.

Kylie is a student who always represents the Viking Values. She comes to class prepared and ready to work. She is respectful to her teachers, and always treats her fellow students kindly. Not only is it a pleasure to have Kylie as a student, her classmates find her helpful and friendly, as well.

Ian is polite, responsible, considerate, and hardworking. He is a role model to others on what it means to be an exceptional student. He always tries his best, and is determined to be a great student. Furthermore, Ian is always considerate of his classmates, and kind to everyone he meets. It is great to have Ian on our team.

Aiden came to VCMS this year from Amherst and has been absolute joy to have in both the classroom and is a great addition to our school. He is always on time, respectful of his peers and adults, completes all assignments and works from bell to bell. He is an incredibly hardworking student who does not hesitate to advocate for himself. He has already found himself a home here at VCMS- joining the boys modified football team and taking on the extra laps and practices needed to make up practice time before hitting the field in a game. Aiden is respectful, responsible and safe - everything a viking should be!

Michael is always looking out for others. He is humble and extremely helpful. His positivity wears off on those around him. I am blessed to have him as my classroom manager, as he was chosen by his classmates for his leadership skills and experience. I know that Michael will go far in this world, as a responsible citizen and leader.

Chase comes into the room with a smile on his face eager to learn. Whether it be study hall or Chorus, Chase is on task, kind and helpful to others, participates and is a role model . Chase swims in the morning before sunrise and then comes to class prepared to learn, with no complaints and a positive attitude. Many mornings he exits the pool, comes to an early morning rehearsal and then straight to class yet maintains high grades and an impeccable character. Chase truly is an outstanding young man, and I am proud to nominate him for this honor.

Jaxen is a wonderful asset to any class he is in. He comes prepared and regularly participates in classroom discussions and activities. Jaxen enjoys a challenge and perseveres when needed. He serves as a wonderful role model to those around him, and is always willing to help another student out.

Liam is kind, conscientious, and hard-working. He is actively engaged in class discussions and provides insightful commentary. He takes pride in his work. He is friendly, polite and respectful to his peers and teachers alike.

Team C would like to recognize Chris Swain as our Viking Pride for the month of October. Chris is an exceptionally hard worker. His perseverance and dedication to his school work has resulted in great success. He follows the Viking Values daily and is a wonderful asset and role model. Eden is a hardworking and meticulous student who always strives to put forth her best effort. She goes above and beyond to make sure her work is of the highest quality, which makes her an excellent candidate to compete in Tech Wars. She is a role model for positive behavior and decision making through her humility and unassuming character. Eden is artistic, creative, respectful and conscientious, always. By being kind to those around her, she works to better any group she is a part of, whether here at school, on the dance team, or as a part of her Youth Group!

Ella ENJOYS her education; LOVES to learn; LOVES to discuss ideas; and is ALWAYS prepared to participate. The energy that Ella exhibits regarding school and about learning is contagious and very welcome in classrooms. Ella is a young woman who is kind to her classmates and collaborates with them in a respectful manner. The work ethic that Ella possesses is exemplary, and she should be seen as a role model for her peers as she continues to meet and exceed expectations that are set for her. When Ella faces obstacles, she "digs in her heels" and faces the obstacles head on. She does not give up but, rather, she perseveres and continues in her pursuit of success. Her teachers are confident that Ella will continue to excel in her quest for academic excellence. Although Ella possesses this strength of character and academic potential, she also has a fun-loving and wonderful sense of humor. She is, quite simply, the "complete package!"

Grace often works on her artwork outside of class and puts in the effort necessary to create beautiful, thoughtful work. She is a student who works beyond frustrations when things are difficult and problem solves appropriate answers. Team C is pleased to recognize Alyssa Griggs as our November recipient of the Viking Pride Award. Alyssa is hard working, diligent, and kind-hearted. She always goes above and beyond completing all work, including optional extra credits. Alyssa follows all directions and is a great role model for others. We are proud to have her on our team!

Natalie Kopf is an excellent role model at VCMS. She is responsible, hard-working, and determined to achieve success. Natalie is cooperative and collaborates with others in the classroom setting. Natalie is very detail-oriented, kind, and helpful. She actively participates in softball, hockey, band and chorus. She is a well-rounded student athlete.

Team A would like to recognize, Samantha Crist as their Viking Pride for the month of November. Sami is an extremely conscientious and hardworking young lady. She regularly seeks out help when she is unsure of something. She should be recognized for always putting in the extra effort where needed. Blake Thauer is an excellent choice for November's Viking Pride Award. Blake comes to class prepared, ready to learn, and enthusiastic about being in class. He is always polite, helpful, and considerate of other students and adults. Blake follows directions, always completes his homework assignments, and represents what a good student should be like. We are lucky to have Blake on our team.

Kyleigh is an excellent example of a student who always demonstrates the Viking Values on a daily basis. Academic success is a high priority to Kyleigh. She always has her work turned in on time, completed to the best of her abilities and seeks help when she is unclear on the content. Her contagious smile brightens the room and creates a positive classroom environment. Kyleigh has on more than one occasion been observed helping her peers when they are confused on an activity or topic. The middle school would benefit greatly if more students followed the examples demonstrated by Kyleigh.

Sarah is a hardworking and respectful student that is a pleasure to have in my class every other day. Sarah is constantly taking responsibility for her work in ASC on a daily basis, as she is constantly striving to ensure her homework is not only completely, but done thoroughly and correctly. She displays respect to all of her classmates, and is always offering to help other students with concepts they do not understand in ASC. She is always punctual and prepared with her work, and is ready to work hard in class every day.

I would like to nominate Colin Wilton. Colin is the epitome of Viking Pride. He exemplifies all the characteristics that teachers and administrators value in our students and in our community. Colin is dependable. Teachers never have to worry that Colin has forgotten to bring classroom materials, neglected to complete an assignment, or has disrupted a class in any way. In fact, Colin is very mature, completely responsible, and often comes to the aid of other students - quietly helping when he can. In this way, he is an asset to his teacher and his classmates. Colin works hard, yet he needs little extra aid from his teachers because he is always focused, listening, and ready to do his personal best. Due to Colin being such a fantastic young man and exemplifying what a middle school student should be, teachers are better able to do all the things they do on a daily basis within the classroom. If every student was the type of student that Colin Wilton is, everyday would be pleasant, successful, and highly productive.

Patrick is an extremely conscientious and hard working young man. He is the true example of being respectful, being responsible and being safe. He treats others as he would like to be treated. He treats and addresses adults with great respect and in return is respected by them for his behavior, his work ethic and his desire to keep improving!

This year Harman has elected to take on a very challenging earth science course. Over the past few months Harman has risen to the challenge and has shown many of the characteristics that make her perfect to be a recipient of the Viking Pride. While it is easy to be just a little late to first mod, Harman is always on time for class, with assignments completed and all needed materials on hand. She is diligent in her quest for a better understanding of earth science concepts and has shown tremendous growth in this subject since September. She asks questions and seeks additional help when needed. Harman will help other students, often explaining concepts that were once difficult for her. She is always cheerful and respectful in her interactions with both staff and other students. She never neglects to to say please and thank you, even during the busiest of times. She is always happy and has a broad smile that spreads a ray of sunshine where ever she goes. You cant help but be happier when she's in the room.

Mia Moran is the type of student who exemplifies what it is to be a Viking. She is a hard worker, who always strives to do her best in class and improve herself. She is polite and helpful to her teachers and fellow students, and she brightens every room with her smile and personality. Mia is a pleasure to have in class and is truly deserving of the Viking Pride award.

Lindsey is an outstanding student because she constantly demonstrates the Viking Values of being respectful and responsible. She is always polite, helpful, and courteous to her teachers and peers. She always takes initiative to make sure she is doing the best she can in school academically.

Mackenzie had a bit of a rough start to the school year. She missed three weeks of school due to illness, very early in the first quarter. Despite her absence, she worked hard to get back on track. She spent several hours outside of class making up her work and getting help to catch up with her lessons. Now, Mackenzie is a solid student and often helps her classmates, who are struggling. She is very patient and kind with them and frequently explains a topic in a way that helps the other students reach a more clear picture. Her caring approach with her classmates and good work ethic has caught her teachers' attention. Mackenzie exemplifies the Viking Values and is a pleasure to work with.

Lydia Amato is Team B’s choice for Student of the Month for January. She is very organized and respectful of her teachers and fellow students. Lydia always puts forth full effort on each and every task presented to her. She asks questions when she doesn’t understand, and doesn’t give up even with difficult tasks! Lydia is a well-rounded student. She participates in chorus and plays softball outside of school. Lydia is a true pleasure to teach.

He is an enthusiastic learner who seems to enjoy school. Elijah never enters the classroom without a smile. Elijah is committed to doing his best and takes responsibility for his learning. Elijah sets an example of excellence in behavior and cooperation. He is courteous to his peers and teachers and always displays good manners in the classroom. Despite his involvement in extracurricular activities, Elijah continues to maintain high grades in all of his classes. It is a pleasure to have Elijah on our team.

Viking Pride awards are given to students who embody good character. Hailey Martinez always demonstrates good citizenship. She is responsible in her work, considerate of others, polite to peers and adults, and a good friend to other students. She has earned the Viking Pride Award not only for these traits, but also because Hailey consistently follows the Viking Values.

Tim Bentley always puts forth his best effort. He is always respectful of adults, responsible in his school work, and treats his peers with kindness and consideration. He has earned Viking Pride through his consistently good work and the good character he demonstrates every day.

Hardworking, unassuming, and kind. These are the words that come to mind when I am asked to describe Kayleigh Vanderzell. She is an exemplary student and a generous and caring individual. She is a perfect example of one who knows what she needs to do to be successful and does it! Her quiet demeanor and strong work ethic serve her well. Kayleigh is a well-rounded individual with varied interests, yet she never loses sight of her educational pursuits and their importance. I look forward to seeing what Kayleigh will achieve in the future!

I knew that Taylor was a go-getter, even before the school year started; she showed initiative, eagerly signed up for Viking Football Game concessions and beginning her marketing campaign for JV DECA's sales event over the summer! She perseveres when other members of her team might not share equally in a task, which will serve her well in all of the required group projects that high school and college require. Taylor's charismatic nature lights up a room and brings people toward her! She is a fine role model for her fellow students both in DECA and in the classroom!

Jackson exemplifies what it means to be a Grand Island Viking. He is polite to both teachers and peers and sensitive to the needs of others. Jackson is responsible and always produces quality work. He does a great job taking ownership for his learning. When unsure of something, Jackson asks the teacher for clarification. Jackson serves as a role model for his peers both inside and outside of the classroom. We are so lucky to have him on our team this year!

Julia "JJ" Juntunen is a wonderful ambassador of Viking Pride! JJ can be counted on to always be courteous and respectful to the students, faculty and staff of VCMS. Her positive and enthusiastic attitude is a great asset in both whole class activities and small group work. JJ is a focused leader with a kind, genuine personality and also has a calming presence when working with her peers. JJ strives to give nothing less than her best in all that she accomplishes. Congratulations Julia!

Lily Koslowski is an ideal example of what it means to be a Viking. Not only is Lily committed to success in and out of the classroom, but she is also a role model for her peers. Lily is engaged in all classroom activities and participates every day, driving the class to a higher level. Her positive attitude and bright smile are contagious.

When I think of Matthew Rizzo, I smile. Matthew has an engaging personality and an unassuming demeanor. His work ethic is an exemplar for every 8th grade student. He is a class leader in a quiet, "lead by example" way. If anyone needs a helping hand, Matthew will extend it to him or her. He is a student that always puts forth his best effort in all that is asked of him. He lives up to his potential every single day, and I am confident that Matthew will be successful in all that he chooses to do.

Emma brings positive energy to every room she is in. She is enthusiastic about learning and her zest for life spreads to her peers. Emma puts her best effort into all that she does. One of Emma’s most admirable qualities is that she is thoughtful and wants to make others around her feel important and cared for. Hanna is a deserving recipient of Viking Pride because of her positive attitude and strong work ethic in school. Hanna is enthusiastic about learning and is always working hard to make the best of her school experience. She is respectful, courteous, and incredibly friendly to teachers and her peers. We are proud to have Hanna at VCMS.

Sean exemplifies the Viking Values of being respectful, responsible and safe both in and outside of the classroom. Sean can always be counted on to be a role model for his peers. In the classroom, he is eager to participate in class discussions and lead his peers in group work and labs. He goes out of his way daily to make sure greet his teachers at the beginning of class, and never leaves the room without a 'have a nice day' or 'goodbye'. As a student athlete and active member of the music program, Sean carries the Viking Values with him outside of the classroom and into the community. He is a great example of what it means to be a Viking.

Caitlin Fay is a model student who stands out in many ways. She is industrious, meeting all expectations of each assignment given. She puts forth full effort frequently does more than asked. She is enrolled in upper-level academic classes and is an artistic achiever as well. Caitlin's hard work and effort result in stellar grades which have earned her a place on the honor roll. In addition, Caitlin is a respectful and reliable student. She is respectful of and respected by, adults and peers alike. Her positive attitude and determination mark her as exemplary. She is a fitting recipient of the Viking Pride award.

Kailyn Ash is a very diligent student. She is very personable and always willing to help others in the classroom. She is a very hard worker that goes above and beyond the expectations of a 6th grade student. You will always find Kailyn smiling, demonstrating leadership skills, and being kind. It has been a pleasure having Kailyn as a role model in our classes this year.

Adrian is an extremely bright young man who is very humble. He is a very talented and artistic student who follows the Viking Values on a consistent basis. He is an excellent helper in the classroom and goes above and beyond always. He works well with all of his peers. He is a pleasure to teach!

Team C is proud to announce Matthew Burridge as our April recipient of the Valued Viking Award. He is always very pleasant, friendly, and helpful to his peers. Team D would like to nominate Addison McNulty as the Viking Pride Award winner for the month of April. Addison continually demonstrates all of the necessary qualifications associated with this award. Addison is confident, positive and a great role model for her classmates. Addison works well with classmates in group work and often takes a leadership role. She has shown excellent ability to set goals and be persistent in achieving them. Addison is very conscientious and shows excellent effort and dedication towards her education. Great job Addison!

Team D would like to nominate Jack Benns as the Viking Pride recipient for the month of April. Jack demonstrates all the values associated with this award on a daily basis. Jack is confident, positive and a great role model for his classmates. Jack sets an example of excellence in behavior and cooperation. Jack's high grade point average is the direct result of his commitment to his education. He is an enthusiastic learner who enjoys school. Jack puts forth his best effort when assignments and helps his peers when they need assistance. great job Jack!

Alma is a great example of good citizenship. She always conducts herself with integrity and civility. Alma is respectful to adults, and is always kind to her peers. She is an awesome addition to Team E and were are so happy to recognize her as our April Viking Pride recipient.

Bella is a role model for all! She has an outstanding work ethic as well as a kind heart. She is the type of student who is always willing to go the extra mile to achieve her desired result and, yet, she never fails to help a fellow student achieve his or her goal as well. Bella's willingness to participate in class is shown by asking intelligent questions and answering higher level thinking questions. In addition, her participation is enhanced by her perceptive comments during class discussion. She takes a risk where her learning is concerned as she sees and understands the value of her education. I appreciate seeing her friendly smile and look forward to her presence in my class everyday.

William Hanlon is very deserving of this award because of his adherence to the Viking Values of this district. William is respectful, responsible, safe in his actions. Moreover, he is an honest, positive, high character individual who works hard for what he earns in the classroom. He is committed to success and is not discouraged by shortfalls. More importantly, he learns from his mistakes and genuinely goes above and beyond his role as a learner. William Hanlon is an incredibly hard worker but more importantly a wonderful person who is deserving of the Viking Pride award.

Phillip is an outstanding young man who exemplifies conscientious. Phillip is reliable, hard working, respectful to adults, peers and himself and has a quiet ,confident self assured personality. He is deeply involved in Music, he plays in the Eighth Grade Band, sings in the Eighth Grade Chorus and Singcopations. In addition he is on the Junior Varsity swim team and is an alter server at St. Stephen Church. Through all of this he is able to maintain his position on the High Honor Role! He is truly committed to success!

Cole Zorich is a conscientious student that is willing to put in the extra effort in order to be successful here at Veronica E. Connor Middle School. He sets high expectations for himself which helped him thrive in sixth grade. Cole is very creative; this is evident in his artistic work and his ability to problem solve. Cole has been an outstanding asset to our classrooms.

Brooke is a friendly, outgoing and cheerful student. She actively participates in many school activities including Student Council and Peer Buddies. She also participates in chorus. Brooke is a true pleasure to teach. She is respected by peers and teachers alike.

Jackson Frey is an outstanding student and demonstrates this excellence throughout the school community. Jackson is highly respected by his peers for his talents on the baseball and volleyball teams as well as in the music and academic aspects of school. He is active in the Jazz Band, the Eighth Grade Concert Band, the Eighth Grade Chorus and Singcopations. He is dependable, reliable honest and hard working. Jackson's easy going demeanor makes him easy to like and appreciate! A true Viking!

William Hofmeyer is a personable, cooperative and hardworking student. He arrives in class with a positive attitude and a smile on his face. He displays curiosity and engagement in all of his lessons. He strives to do his best work and is eager to learn and do more. William actively contributes to classroom discussions and takes responsibility for his own work and learning. William always does his best. He regularly displays the positive GI Viking attributes of being respectful, responsible and safe. William contributes to a positive classroom climate by displaying a cheerful attitude and commitment to task. He is an ideal recipient of this honor.

Maria Preston can best be described as respectful, positive, honest, and responsible. She is dedicated to growing as a student and as an individual. Her commitment to success is obvious; she is always working to her potential. Maria does not face a challenge that she will back down from, and she does so with a smile on her face. Her positive attitude and energy are contagious. Maria is a true Viking and an exceptional representation of Veronica Connor Middle School.

Zoe Weselak brightens up any classroom she enters. Zoe does a great job focusing on the tasks in front of her. She pays close attention to the details and is meticulous when completing her work. Zoe never complains; She is selfless and always puts the needs of others before her own. This year she raised money for the Viking Olympics even though she didn’t participate on a Viking Olympics’s team. Her sweet demeanour makes her well liked by her peers. It has been a pleasure having Zoe as a student this year.

Gianna is a very sweet and respectful young lady. She always puts forth her best effort and gives 110%. She always follows the Viking Values and is a joy to have in class.

Team C is delighted to announce Asher Wright as our June recipient for the Valued Viking Award. Asher has a great disposition and gets along well with everybody. David Squires represents all the best qualities of a Grand Island Viking. He approaches his work with precision and diligence. David sets a positive example for his peers and works very well with others on group assignments. He is responsible and polite, and has been a great addition to our team this year. Michael Zacher sets an excellent example of the kind of student and person we want to see in the halls of VCMS. He is respectful to fellow students, teachers, and coaches. He is honest, positive, and is focused on doing his best to bring about academic success. Michael keeps up with his schoolwork while balancing several extra-curricular activities which include many Grand Island sports teams. He maintains high acadmic standards for himself and gets excellent grades. Michael Zacher is a deserving Viking Pride Award winner.

When considering students who demonstrate the Viking Values, Isabelle Pedzek is at the top of the list. Teachers unanimously agree, Isabelle is a perfect example of what a Connor Middle School student should be. Isabelle exemplifies all of the Viking Values. It's so nice to see her; whether in class or in the hallways, she comports herself with a mature and dignified demeanor. She always respects others and is consistently kind to all. If someone has been left out of of a class work-group, Isabelle will gladly make room for them. Isabelle can always be counted on to do her personal best. She arrives to class prepared and ready to learn. She'll gladly help others and helps to make a teacher's job easier. She seeks help and advice to clarify her understanding of her classwork and is sure never to fall behind in her studies. In short, Isabelle is the type of student that all teachers truly appreciate. Yet, there is more to Isabelle than her strong commitment to her academic subjects and her kindness to her peers. Isabelle also exemplifies Viking sportsmanship and, in sports too, she has consistently worked to achieve her personal best and you'll often hear her name on morning announcements for her terrific efforts in team sports. In summary, Isabelle is the type of young lady that serves as a positive role model for all of us. Her upbeat, sunny disposition, her kind words and deeds, and her willingness to work hard and do what is right and good, serves as an inspiration to us all.

Kathleen is a student of unquestionable character and abides by strong Viking values. Kathleen is well respected by her peers for her determination, her perseverance and her desire to do well. She is involved in several extra curricular groups and at the same time is able to maintain high honor status. A truly outstanding student!
