Welcome to our classroom website!

My name is Miss Susan Andrews, and I will be your child's kindergarten teacher this year. Kindergarten is a wonderful place to learn and grow. It's a time of wonder and discovery. I hope you are ready to have some fun! I am looking forward to working with you and your child this year, and I encourage a strong home-school connection. A little about Miss Andrews:

I am a life-long resident of Grand Island and I graduated from Grand Island High School. I studied psychology as an undergraduate at Canisius College. I went on for my master's degree in elementary education at Niagara University. This is my 32nd year of teaching (hard to believe!). For almost all of those years, I have taught kindergarten. I taught first grade for one year, but I have to say I am back to my first love, kindergarten. I am thrilled to be your child’s teacher this year!

Goals for this Year:

#1 - To prepare the children to be successful life-long learners and to make the children’s first experience at Sidway a successful and happy one.

#2 - To instill in the children a strong academic foundation and understanding of the importance of school and learning in the years ahead.

#3 - To provide a positive environment where the children take pride in their work and accomplishments. I encourage each child to do his/her best work each day. I strive to guide, encourage, and support each child to be the best he/she can be!

#4 - To give each child every opportunity to learn, grow, and succeed academically, socially, and emotionally throughout the year!
